A very long stairway

This is the view from midway up a hugely long staircase that cuts up Capitol Hill. It is surrounded on both sides by very nice terraced gardens connected to houses that must be gorgeous, but a pain in the butt to reach. Did I mention that it’s a long, steep staircase?
